Mothman was a legendary creature that began frequenting an abandoned WW2 TNT factory and terrorizing residents of the area. These sightings occurred from the winter of 1966 to the winter of 1967 and during this time more than 100 sighting occurred, some even being reported to the police. On December 15, 1967 "The Silver Bridge" that spanned the Ohio-West Virginia border collapsed into the Ohio river killing 46 people. No Mothman sightings are believed to have occurred after this event.

Point Pleasant, West Virginia is not only considered by some to be The site of the first battle of the Revolutionary war, but is also where the sightings of the mysterious Mothman occurred.
